Recurring Rides

Tuesdays 6:00 pm B 25-35 Bechtel
Bechtel Tuesdays

The rides leave from the Bechtel parking lot (along the woods) at 5275 Westview Drive (off Crestwood close to Rt. 85) at 6:00 PM. Bring lights (front and rear); may always be some hills, and we'll try to stay together.

Wednesdays 9:00 am B+ 35-50 Wheel Base
Wednesday Morning Road Ride

This is a mid-week ride that starts at the Wheel Base bike shop in Frederick.

Bechtel Rides

The rides leave from the Bechtel parking lot (along the woods) at 5275 Westview Drive (off Crestwood close to Rt. 85) at 6:00 PM. Bring lights (front and rear) as we may still ride into the night. A couple of hills, no one left behind.

Sundays 8:00 or 9:00 am A/B 35-50 Wheel Base
The Sunday Morning Road Ride

The entire group stays together for about an hour then usually breaks into two smaller groups, a faster ride and a slower ride. Ride goes if it is not too windy and the roads are dry. Start times vary during the year based on shop hours so contact the shop in advance for more information.

Non-Recurring Rides

Oct 6 (Sat) 12:00 noon D 7/13 Lewistown Elementary School
Pick Your Distance

This ride is for beginners and those who like a short, easy ride. We'll start at Lewistown Elementary School and head north on some of the quietest and least hilly roads that Frederick County offers. We will loop back and arrive at the school after seven miles. Those who wish can call it quits there. The ride will continue south and loop around to see the Utica Covered Bridge before arriving at the school for a thirteen-mile ride.

Oct 7 (Sun) 8:00 am C 60 Damascus High School
Trolley Car Ride

Ride through Damascus, Laytonsville, back roads of Olney and Northeast Montgomery County to visit the Trolley Museum before it becomes part of the ICC. We will pick up lunch and drinks at Subway and/or 7-Eleven and carry it to the museum where we have a picnic lunch and then ride the trolley. The museum is free however the trolley ride has a nominal fee.

Oct 13 (Sat) 8:00 am All Bethel E.L. Church
Adopt-A-Road Pickup

Come out and pick up something oogie with the Frederick Pedalers as we do our part to keep FredCo beautiful by picking up trash along Bethel Road between Opossumtown Pike and Mountaindale Road. It's always a fun time and Bill 'Dough Boy' Smith usually brings yummy bagels from ZiPani. Meet us by 8:00 am the Bethel E.L. Church. Long pants, a long sleeve shirt, sturdy shoes and work gloves are recommended.

Oct 14 (Sun) 1:00 pm F 6 Carrollton Park
Frederick Family Fun Ride

Join us for an easy, family-friendly 6 mile ride as we travel along quiet neighborhood streets to Mt. Olivet where we will enjoy the fall weather while looping through the low-traffic cemetery roads.

Oct 20 (Sat) 9:00 am C 28 Whittier Elementary School
A Quick Tour of Mountaindale

Please join us for a great bike ride on a fall day in October. This is an easy C pace ride over rolling terrain and the group will enjoy the wonderful scenery of northern Frederick County. There is one notable climb on Lenhart road. The other hills should be fairly easy. We will ride as a group and no one will be left behind. The group will stop for a snack or lunch at 7-Eleven on Angleberger road.

Oct 21 (Sun) 8:30 am C 60 Woodsboro Community Park
Woodsboro-Cascade Loop

This ride has it all. We will meet at the Woodsboro Community Park at 8:30 AM. This ride covers the finest 60+ miles that Frederick County has to offer. We will enjoy the peace and history of Bennie Duncan Road, the three covered bridges near Thurmont, and we will climb the idyllic Catoctin Hollow Road [so lube up your granny gears], ending up at the summit of Catoctin Mountain. We will take a very slow pace to make sure that all who begin this climb, arrive up at the top, safe and sound. We then get to enjoy that long, breathtaking 8-mile long downhill of MD-550 into Thurmont. The ride ends with a flat winding down section which affords spacious panoramic views of the mountains which one can only enjoy here in Frederick County.

Oct 27 (Sat) 9:00 am C 33 Lewistown Elementary School
Catoctin Climber

Come out for the colorful fall foliage as we'll warm up on the roads north of Lewistown before tackling the scenic climb up Catoctin Hollow Road, then continue up Route 77 and across Foxville Deerfield Road before descending Route 550 into Thurmont for a stop at the Sheetz. Although we will ride as a group and no one will be left behind please be aware that this ride contains significant hill climbs.
