** Ride of Silence listed below replaces the regular Wednesday Night Ride for May 16 **
With a new start location for 2007, the Wednesday night rides take on
a new look. We'll try some new routes along with the old favorites on this
easy mid-week spin where new riders are always welcome. This is a social
ride and no one will be left behind. If needed we will regroup periodically or split
into two groups when feasible. Usually no go in rain and ride leader duties
may alternate through the season so some weeks may be impromptu.

Ride of Silence
** This ride replaces the regular Wednesday Night Ride for May 16 **
Join us as we raise cycling awareness during Bike Safety Month
and honor those cyclists who have been injured or killed on our nation's roads.
This ride will proceed in silent memorial at no more than 12 mph through
the streets of downtown Frederick obeying all laws and traffic controls
to demonstrate cyclists intent to safely share the road with other vehicles.
Please arrive and be ready for pre-ride instructions at 6:45 PM as we will try
to depart promptly at 7:00 PM.
See http://www.rideofsilence.org for
more information about this international event.

Weekend Rides
May 5 (Sat) 9:30 am C 48
Whittier Elementary School
Almost a Straight Shot to Emmitsburg
We have recruited a new leader this year for this Frederick Pedalers
tradition. Over rolling terrain, this is an easy ride unless a strong wind is
blowing. Lunch in Emmitsburg, enjoy the scenery from The Mount.
May 12 (Sat) 10:30 am D 19 Lewistown Elementary School
Loopy for Lewistown
We'll meander along the quiet country roads surrounding Lewistown. It's not
flat, but there are no long hills. One planned rest stop approximately half-way
through the ride, and we'll stop as desired by the group. We will ride as a
group and no one will be left behind.
May 13 (Sun) 8:30 am B/C 67 Silo Hill Parkway
Adams County Metric Century
This is a ride for people who would like to do a B ride at a C pace. This is
a beautiful ride mostly in Adams County. We have added a few extra miles
meandering around the Gettysburg Battlefield. We will then stop for breakfast
at McDonalds in Gettysburg at mile 16. The ride heads north through
Heidlersburg, west into the apple and peach orchards to Aspers, then the easy
climb up and over the side of Bear Mountain to Arendtsville. On the way back
we hope to see soar planes gliding overhead.
May 19 (Sat) 8:30 am B/C 36 Orchard Grove Elementary School
Jefferson-Adamstown-Buckeystown
Despite what you may have thought, you can ride a bike in Frederick County
south of the city. We will start inside the city limits at Orchard Grove and
wander south on country roads until we get to Jefferson where we turn east and
head to Adamstown, then continue east going around Buckeystown before heading
back. There are three noticeable climbs on this ride that C riders should be
able to handle with some effort. Great views and the rides down the other side
make the effort worthwhile. Lots of flat riding in between to give you time to
recover.
May 26 (Sat) 9:00 am C+ 40 Point of Rocks Boat Ramp
Waterford
Meet at the boat launch on the Virginia side for a roundabout ride to
Waterford. We will also be on the W&OD Bike trail for a short distance.
There are a few moderate hills. There will be a restroom break and snack stop.
Sundays 8:00 or 9:00 am A/B 35-50 Wheel Base
The Sunday Morning Road Ride
The entire group stays together for about an hour then usually breaks
into two smaller groups, a faster ride and a slower ride. Ride goes
if it is not too windy and the roads are dry. Start times vary during
the year based on shop hours so contact the shop in advance for more information.
