Weekday & Evening Rides

Tuesdays 6:00 pm B 25-35 Glade Elementary School
Bechtel Redux
Ride with the Bechtel crew from Glade if you prefer a more civilized ride on Tuesday evenings.

Wednesdays 9:00 am B+ 35-50 Wheel Base
Wednesday AM Road Ride
This is a mid-week ride that starts at the Wheel Base bike shop in Frederick.

Wednesdays 6:15 pm C 15-20 Utica District Park
Utica Park & Ride
With a new start location for 2007, the Wednesday night rides take on a new look. We'll try some new routes along with the old favorites on this easy mid-week spin where new riders are always welcome. This is a social ride and no one will be left behind. If needed we will regroup periodically or split into two groups when feasible. Usually no go in rain and ride leader duties may alternate through the season so some weeks may be impromptu.

Beginning Bicyclist Class - Session I
Each two hour session will consist of approximately an hour of class instruction followed by a one hour bike ride to try out your newly learned skills. These classes are intended for anyone who would like to learn more about their bicycle and how to safely operate it on the road.

Registration is required.

Thursdays 6:00 pm 20 Bicycle Fix
Thursday Night BF Ride
Every Thursday beginning March 15th join fellow riders at Bicycle Fix for an approximately 20 mile ride. Ride will leave the shop at 6:00pm. Bicycle Fix is located in the Westview Promenade off Route 85. The address is 5235 Buckeystown Pike in Frederick. Contact the shop in advance for more information.

Thursdays 6:00 pm B 25-35 Bechtel
Bechtel Rides
The rides leave from the Bechtel parking lot (along the woods) at 5275 Westview Drive (off Crestwood close to Rt. 85) at 6:00 PM. Bring lights (front and rear) as we may still ride into the night. A couple of hills, no one left behind.

Apr 27 (Fri) 8:30 am B 100 Silo Hill Parkway - Emmitsburg
Spring Century
This traditional ride is based on these ideals: (a) it is Spring, so we're still a quart low; (b) we're gonna smell the roses; (c) we'll stop for a quick sit-down lunch; (d) we're out to have a good time and ride as a team. We'll go into the Pigeon Hills of York County with flat to rolling terrain in the beginning and end with some hills in the middle. We're hoping for a good crowd as this is a joint ride with CVCC.

Weekend Rides

April TBA 10:00 am C 30 Lewistown Elementary School
Orchard Oasis
We'll ride up past Thurmont and through the Catoctin Mountain Orchard to see the fruit trees in all their spring blossom glory. Since the blossoms are dependent on local weather conditions, the scheduled day for this ride is TBA however it will be a Saturday or Sunday. An email will go out to club members and the Yahoo Group as soon as the date is known, but may only provide a few days notice. Please contact clubmail@frederickpedalers.org if you don't receive regular club email notifications. You can expect rolling terrain with a few short climbs and a stop at the Sheetz in Thurmont.

Apr 1 (Sun) 11:00 am C 20 Culler Lake
Lake to Lake
We’ll meet at Culler Lake, ride out O’Possumtown Pike to Hansonville Road. We’ll come back to town by Bethel Road – some hills.

Apr 14 (Sat) 9:00 am C 50 Lewistown Elementary School
Backdoor to Emmitsburg
How many times have you done a ride on the same old boring routes to Emmitsburg? Not this time. We're going to swing around and come in from the north to see the fine mountain views from a different perspective. Rolling terrain with some hills but no leg busters like Teen Barnes or Flint Hill.

Apr 15 (Sun) 11:00 am D 19 Lewistown Elementary School
Loopy for Lewistown
We'll meander along the quiet country roads surrounding Lewistown. It's not flat, but there are no long hills. One planned rest stop approximately half-way through the ride, and we'll stop as desired by the group. We will ride as a group and no one will be left behind.

Apr 22 (Sun) 10:00 am C 30 Lewistown Elementary School
Bike Birthday Ride
My Trek 2300 road bike turns ten years old today. Bring out your own 10 year old (or older) bike and join in the fun. Gifts optional. We'll stop at the By-King Rest Stop for birthday cake during the ride. No, I am not kidding about the cake and yes, you will have to sing 'Happy Birthday' to my bike.

Apr 29 (Sun) 10:00 am B 51 Silo Hill Parkway
Birthday Retry
Only two brave souls did this ride in February, so we're going to try again. Destination will likely be McSherrystown, PA. A few minor hills, that's all. This is a joint ride with the Hanover Cyclers.

Sundays 8:00 or 9:00 am A/B 35-50 Wheel Base
The Sunday Morning Road Ride
The entire group stays together for about an hour then usually breaks into two smaller groups, a faster ride and a slower ride. Ride goes if it is not too windy and the roads are dry. Start times vary during the year based on shop hours so contact the shop in advance for more information.
