Weekday and Evening Rides

Oct 5 (Wed) 2:00 pm C 15 Location TBA
Md 144 Corridor with SHA / MDOT

Michael Jackson, Harvey Muller and others from the state and city will be joining us for a short ride through the MD 144 corridor. Information and experience gained will be put to good use at the planning commission meeting at Frederick City Hall on Monday, October 10 at 6:00 p.m., where the first topic of discussion will be the City of Frederick’s bicycle transportation network. Contact clubmail@frederickpedalers.org for more information.

Mondays 6:00 pm B/B+ Bechtel
Bechtel Rides

The rides leave from the Bechtel parking lot (along the woods) at 5275 Westview Drive (off Crestwood close to Rt. 85) at 6:00 PM. Mileage will depend on available daylight - front and rear lights highly recommended and speed will be category B/B+ with a couple of hills, no one left behind.

Wednesdays 6:15 pm B 25-30 Luke's Pizza
Lights and Pizza

Lights are mandatory on this friendly, social ride; you'll need a front white headlight and a red rear taillight. If you possess a reflective vest and/or clothing, wear them. Remember that the temps will be dropping throughout the ride. Pizza and/or sandwiches at Luke's after the ride. We usually do lots of hills in order to stay warm. No one will be dropped.

Wednesdays 9:00 am B+ 35-50 Wheel Base
Wednesday AM Road Ride

This is a mid-week ride that starts at Wheel Base Bicycles in Frederick. Call the bike shop in advance for more information. Wheel Base: 301-663-9288.

Weekend Rides

Oct 15 (Sat) 10:00 am until 2:00 pm ALL Frederick Crossing Shopping Center
Bike Safety Rodeo

Our friend and former Frederick Pedalers officer and now Boy Scout leader John Blumenauer is running a bicycle safety rodeo on Saturday October 15. It will run from 10 am through 2 pm at Frederick Crossing Shopping Center (on Guilford Drive, adjacent to the Best Buy). John needs assistance with manning stations and bike inspection.
Contact clubmail@frederickpedalers.org for more information.

Oct 16 (Sun) 8:30 am B-/C+ 63 Woodsboro Community Park
Woodsboro-Cascade Loop

This ride has it all and covers the finest 60+ miles that Frederick County has to offer. We will enjoy the peace and history of Bennie Duncan Road, the three covered bridges near Thurmont, and we will climb the idyllic Catoctin Hollow Rd, ending up at the summit of Catoctin Mountain. We will take a very slow pace to make sure that all who begin this climb arrive at the top, safe and sound, together with all riders. We then get to enjoy that long, breathtaking 8-mile long downhill of MD 550 into Thurmont. The ride ends with a flat winding down section which affords spacious panoramic views of the mountains which one can only enjoy here in Frederick County.

Oct 22 (Sat) 9:00 am C+ 60 Catoctin High School
Michaux Bound

Hopefully the trees will still have some color for this scenic ride. We will have lunch at Caledonia State Park, so either pack a lunch or buy one at a nearby store and tote to the park. There are some hills, but everyone is still in shape from Summer riding — right?

Oct 23 (Sun) 9:00 am B/C 45-50 Whittier Elementary School
Almost a Straight Shot to Emmitsburg

Back by popular demand for the 8th straight year, this ride features rolling terrain with one significant hill. Easy ride unless the wind is strong with a scheduled lunch stop in Emmitsburg.

Oct 29 (Sat) 7:30 am B 65 Glade Elementary School
Gettysburg Breakfast

On this last day of Daylight Savings Time, we’ll schlep on up to the Avenue Restaurant for some breakfast. We’ll weave into our route the Sachs Rd Covered Bridge and a little bit of the Battlefield. Leader might be on a tandem.

Every Sunday 8:00 am A/B 35-50 Wheel Base
The Sunday Morning Road Ride

The entire group stays together for about an hour then usually breaks into two smaller groups, a faster ride and a slower ride. Ride goes if it is not too windy and the roads are dry. Wheel Base: 301-663-9288.

(Please Note: Wheel Base rides are not official Frederick Pedalers rides and are listed as a courtesy to Wheel Base)
