Weekday and Evening Rides

Tuesdays 6:00 pm B Bechtel
Bechtel Rides

The rides leave from the Bechtel parking lot (along the woods) at 5275 Westview Drive (off Crestwood close to Rt. 85) at 6:00 PM. Mileage will depend on available daylight (tail light recommended), speed will be category B/B+ with a couple of hills, no one left behind.

Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:00 pm B 25-35 Glade Elementary School
Tuesday/Thursday Road Ride

The racers are starting from here, so don’t get confused. We’re easy to tell apart — they’re looking at the finish line, we’re looking at the waist line. Expect a pace of about 15-17 mph. Impromptu.

Wednesdays 6:00 pm C 20-25 Glade Elementary School
The Glide from Glade

The ride title says it all! We’ll go at a very easy pace. New riders are welcome, as this will be a social ride and also a recovery ride for those who choose to push harder on Monday and Tuesday nights. No one will be left behind. Usually no go in rain and ride leader duties will alternate through the season so there's always a chance of an impromptu ride.

Wednesdays 9:00 am B+ 35-50 Wheel Base
Wednesday AM Road Ride

This is a mid-week ride that starts at Wheel Base Bicycles in Frederick. Call the bike shop in advance for more information. Wheel Base: 301-663-9288.

Weekend Rides

May 1 (Sun) 10:00 am D 18 Lewistown Elementary School
Loopy for Lewistown

Join us for a seldom seen D ride on the Frederick Pedalers schedule. We'll meander along the quiet country roads surrounding Lewistown. It's not flat, but there are no significant hills. No rest stops are planned, but we will stop as desired by the group. We will ride as a group and no one will be left behind. If this ride catches on, it may become a regular fixture on the Frederick Pedalers schedule. We'll also do mini-checkups of anyone's bike that may have been in 'storage' for a while...

May 7 (Sat) 9:00 am C (Hilly) 42 Glade Elementary School
Harp Hill Hump

We'll take the AT route up Hamburg Road and over Catoctin Mountain for a nice climb up Harp Hill, then across Stottlemeyer for the descent down 77 back into Thurmont. Bring your base miles and your 39-25 or better cuz it ain't gonna be pretty. The ride leader is preparing for the Civil War Century and needs to drag his butt up all the hills he can find to get ready.

May 14 (Sat) 9:00 am All Bethel E.L. Church
Adopt-A-Road Pickup

Please join us, won't you, for the first pickup of the 2005 season. The first time out for the year is always the most interesting as we see what cool and yucky stuff people left behind from the past winter. If you need further coaxing, Bill always brings ubber-bagels from Panera.

May 15 (Sun) 9:00 am C+ 40 Point of Rocks Boat Ramp (VA Side)
Waterford

Meet at the boat launch on the Virginia side for a ride to Waterford.

May 21 (Sat) 10:00 am D 20 Hancock, Maryland
Western MD Rail-Trail Ride

The Borkmen will lead a D ride at 10 am from Hancock west on the newer section of the paved rails-to-trail with the distance being about 20 miles or less. Ride will depart from the parking lot in town between the trail and MD144 (on the south side of the road) behind the stores. To get there, take I-70 west, exit onto Rt. 144 in Hancock (exit 3), head into town and park in the lot.

May 29 (Sun) 8:00 am A/B 62 Wheel Base
CSC Race

If the weather is good, meet at Wheel Base and carpool to Leesburg where we'll ride the W&OD bike trail to the Clarendon bike race. Bring a lock, money for lunch, and expect to watch several races which means this ride will last most of the day.

Every Sunday 8:00 am A/B 35-50 Wheel Base
The Sunday Morning Road Ride

The entire group stays together for about an hour then usually breaks into two smaller groups, a faster ride and a slower ride. Ride goes if it is not too windy and the roads are dry. Wheel Base: 301-663-9288.

(Please Note: Wheel Base rides are not official Frederick Pedalers rides and are listed as a courtesy to Wheel Base)
