Evening Rides

Wednesdays 6:15 pm B 25-30 Luke's Pizza
Lights, Pizza & Train Spotting

Expect us to stay in the flats through the month of October and November to allow the good Dr. Borkman to heal from his early September crash. Lights are mandatory; you’ll need a front white headlight and a rear taillight. If you possess a reflective vest and arm/leg bands, use them. Remember that temps will be dropping throughout the ride. Pizza or sandwiches at Luke’s at ride’s end.

Weekday and Weekend Rides

(Please Note: Wheel Base rides are not official Frederick Pedalers rides and are listed as a courtesy to Wheel Base)

Wednesdays 9:00 am B+ 35-50 Wheel Base
Wednesday AM Road Ride

This is a mid-week ride that starts at Wheel Base Bicycles in Frederick. Call the bike shop in advance for more information. Wheel Base: 301-663-9288.

Sundays 8:00 am A/B 35-50 Wheel Base
The Sunday Morning Road Ride

The entire group stays together for about an hour then usually breaks into two smaller groups, a faster ride and a slower ride. Ride goes if it is not too windy and the roads are dry. Wheelbase: 301-663-9288.

October 3 (Sun) 8:45 am B- 30ish Libertytown Park
Club Picnic Rides

This is better than the DOUBLEMINT TWINS! (Sorry, some of you are probably too young to know what this means). Anyway, Glenn is running TWO rides today; the first one at 8:45 before the picnic (about 33 miles). The second one will be after the picnic at about 2:00 for about 31 miles.

October 10 (Sun) 7:30 am C 40+ Whittier Elementary School
Catoctin Colorfest in Thurmont

Ride to the Colorfest Arts & Crafts Show (http://www.colorfest.org). Bring panniers for carrying goods purchased. Rolling terrain. Because of the crowds at this event, we will leave sharply at 7:30. Expect traffic in Thurmont. Leader plans for one-hour stay at the Colorfest and return to the start point by 12 noon.

October 10 (Sun) 12:30 pm B- 47 Clear Spring High School
Clear Spring / Fort Loudoun

This is a joint ride with the Cumberland Valley Cycling Club (CVCC). The pace will be 14-15 mph, cue sheets will be provided. Contact Dick Cushwa and/or www.bikecvcc.com for more info. (Rcushwa@aol.com).

October 17 (Sun) 9:00 am B- 55 Carroll Manor Elementary School
Antietam Adventure

This trip will include a ride around the battlefield. This is a hilly ride, but there is no hurry. Lunch stop will be included near Antietam.

October 23 (Sat) 9:00 am C+ 50 Glade Elementary School
Clockwise Covered Bridges

One more time for 2004 to decide which direction I like better. It was properly pointed out last month that the standard ride actually travels counter-clockwise, so the reverse direction should really be called 'clockwise'. As so it is. Standard FredCo rolling terrain with the regular lunch stop in Emmitsburg.
