Evening Rides

Mondays 6:00 pm B+/A 25-35 Wheel Base
Monday Night Road Ride

Expect an average pace of 16-18 mph; there will be “no attacks” on this ride; just a friendly, fast-pace. There will usually be one break for food / drink — not necessarily at a store. Ride cancelled if raining or rain is imminent. Wheelbase Bikes, 301-663-9288.

Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:00 pm B 25-35 Glade Elementary School
Tuesday/Thursday Road Ride

The racers are starting from here, so don’t get confused. We’re easy to tell apart — they’re looking at the finish line, we’re looking at the waist line. Expect a pace of about 15-17 mph. Some nights it’s an impromptu ride.

Wednesdays 6:00 pm (NEW TIME!) C 20-25 Glade Elementary School
Start Slow, Then Ease Off

The ride title says it all! We’ll go at a very easy pace. New riders are welcomed, as this will be a social ride and a recovery ride for those who choose to push harder on Monday and Tuesday nights. No one will be left behind. The ride leader duties will be shared and thus will vary.

Weekend and Weekday Rides

(Please Note: Wheel Base rides are not official Frederick Pedalers rides and are listed as a courtesy to Wheel Base)

Wednesdays 9:00 am B+ 35-50 Wheel Base
Wednesday AM Road Ride

This is a mid-week ride that starts at Wheel Base Bicycles in Frederick. Call the bike shop in advance for more information. Wheel Base: 301-663-9288.

Sundays 8:00 am A/B 35-50 Wheel Base
The Sunday Morning Road Ride

The entire group stays together for about an hour then usually breaks into two smaller groups, a faster ride and a slower ride. Ride goes if it is not too windy and the roads are dry. Wheelbase: 301-663-9288.

August 7 (Sat) 8:00 am B 50 Middletown Elementary School
To West Virginia

A rare ride to West Virginia going to Shepherdstown, Harper's Ferry, and a short stretch of the C&O canal.

August 14 (Sat) 9:00 am B 70 Myersville Elementary School
Up the Big One to South Mountain PA

Climb 1500 feet of Cold Spring Road in order to have a grinder at Red’s Market and hopefully make it back. Expect about 7000 feet of elevation gain on this ride.

August 15 (Sun) 10:30 am C Hagerstown Fairgrounds
Leitersburg Peach Festival

Visit the Leitersburg Ruritan Community Park in Washington County and the Annual Peach Festival. Some hills and traffic. Take I-70 West to US 40 West toward Hagerstown. Once in Hagerstown, turn right on Locus Street, then right on Fairgrounds Avenue to the Fairgounds.

August 21 (Sat) 8:30 am B- 50 Glade Elementary School
Covered Bridges

Bring along your 14-15 mph pace on this ride from Walkersville out to Emmitsburg for a lunch stop at the group's location of choice for the day. Standard FredCo rolling terrain with few long flat sections. Mountain scenery, bridges, livestock, it's all there.

August 22 (Sun) 8:45 am B-/C+ 60+ Woodsboro Community Park
Woodsboro - Cascade Loop

This ride covers the finest 60+ miles that Frederick County has to offer. We will enjoy the peace and history of Bennie Duncan Rd and the Three Covered Bridges near Thurmont and we will climb the idyllic Catoctin Hollow Rd ending up at the summit of Catoctin Mountain. We will take a very slow pace to make sure that all who begin this climb arrive at the top safe and sound. We then get to enjoy that long, breathtaking 8-mile long downhill of MD550 into Thurmont. Lunch at Sheetz in Thurmont or bring your own. The ride ends with a flat winding down section, which affords spacious panoramic views of the mountains that one can only enjoy here in Frederick County. Please call leader to let him know that you are coming so he brings enough cue sheets. Glenn Angus 410-729-1494
