Recurring Rides

Wednesdays 9:00 am B 35-50 Wheel Base
Wednesday AM Road Ride

This is a mid-week ride that starts at the Wheel Base bike shop in Frederick.
Contact the shop in advance for more information.

Wednesdays 6:15 pm C 15-30 Utica District Park
Utica Wednesdays

This is one of the club's most popular rides, attracting a diverse group of cyclists. We'll try some new routes along with the old favorites on this easy mid-week spin where new riders are always welcome. This is a social ride and no one will be left behind. We will regroup periodically if needed or split into two groups when feasible. Usually no go in rain and ride leader duties may alternate through the season so some weeks may be impromptu.

Thursdays 5:00 PM CC 20-35 Mt Zion Park and Ride
Explore Middletown Valley

This is a special weekly ride in August. It will leave out of Mt Zion Park and Ride located just off Route 15S at the intersection of Mt Zion Road and Elmer Derr Rd. Plan to be ready to leave by 5:00 PM and expect moderate terrain with lots of hills - Middletown and Braddock Heights are areas with some climbs that are steep, worth panting through and expect the ride to run as a CC pace with riders not walking the hills but chugging along breathless but pedaling. Ride distances will vary with the goal to get in 20-35 miles each ride. I will try to vary the routes each week so the exact distance will be determined once I get the route created. Look for additional postings and updates with distance details the week of the ride. This ride will go until dusk each evening. Ride leader has never lead before, so assume that all suggestions for routes, procedures, and other general ride leader "stuff" would be most helpful.
Contact Donna Pendleton 240-344-8915 to let me know you are coming. If rain, no go.

Sundays 8:00 am A/B 35-50 Wheel Base
The Sunday Morning Road Ride

The entire group stays together for about an hour then usually breaks into two smaller groups, a faster ride and a slower ride. Ride goes if it is not too windy and the roads are dry. Contact the shop in advance for more information.

Non-Recurring Rides

August 1 (Sat) 8:00 AM CC 40 Union Mills Homestead
CornQuest!

We're going to take our tandem and tag along with the BBC to work up an appetite for corn, chicken, and iced tea. If history is any indication, the ride will be hilly and the weather will be hot. Bring lots of water and $12.00 for the Corn Roast. Even though we are tagging along on a BBC ride, we intend on doing our own pace and keeping our riders together. It will be crowded, so look for the tandem couple wearing Frederick Pedalers jerseys.

August 8 (Sat) 8:45 am C 60 Van Bokkelin Elementary School, Severn, MD
2nd Annual Annapolis City Dock Ride

This ride will begin at Van Bokkelin Elementary School in Severn, MD. We will then connect up with the Baltimore and Annapolis Trail and ride all the way to Annapolis. We will ride through the historic area of downtown and proceed to the community of Bay Hills, which affords what I consider to be the very best view of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge on the western shore. Back downtown we will enjoy lunch on the City Dock. We will return along the south shore of the Severn River, meandering along General's Highway and River Rd through Crownsville, returning to the ride start location through the Severn Run Environmental Area, the headwaters of the Severn River. This affords a greater variety of terrain than last year's ride provided. It also gives the rider a few of the bigger hills of this area [still nothing in comparison to some of the Frederick area hills, though]. Each rider should bring some money for lunch on the City Dock. Don't let the distance deter you. This is a very easy ride, and will provide numerous scenic adventures. Please give me notice of your participation, so I can have sufficient cue sheets for everyone.

Join me for a scenic ride through the Middletown valley. We will ride to Middletown then ride along the Cone Branch, working our way to Burkittsville. We'll have a full rest stop at Gathland Park, about 14 miles into the ride. Then along South Mountain back to Myersville. This will be a hilly ride. we will rest/take breaks as needed, no one will be dropped and we will regroup as necessary. Bring plenty of water, snacks and/or food, there will be few places to restock. The cue sheet will have some options near the end for any riders who would like to extend the ride and climb some more hills.

August 29 (Sat) 8:30 AM CC 31 Gathland Park
Shepherdstown Thrills and Hills

Join us for a 31 mile ride through Antietam Battlefield to Shepherdstown. It is a very hilly but extremely scenic route. We will stop in Shepherdstown for coffee or snacks at the Lost Dog Coffee Shop. We think you will enjoy the trip through the battlefield and along the C&O Canal as we approach Shephardstown. We will also be crossing the beautiful Potomac. There are a fair amount of turns in the route. We will provide cue sheets. Meet at 8:30 on August 29th at the parking lot off of Arnoldstown Road at Gathland Park near the arch. Feel free to contact Dottie at or Lisa at if you have any questions.
