Catoctin Climber
Two weekends of great weather in a row? We'll surely pay for this later in
the summer but for now, 14 riders enjoyed a beautiful day and a scenic
ride to the top of Catoctin Mountain near Foxville.
FCPS had conveniently resurfaced the parking lot at Lewistown Elementary
so we resorted to on street parking
A healthy crew for today's ride
After a five mile warm-up, we head up Catoctin Hollow Road
Shade from the trees provides a pleasant climbing atmosphere
Cresting the summit on Catoctin Hollow
Stopping to compare lactic acid thresholds at Route 77
Terri Eskuchen tells the 'Paula Abdul' story of her arm injury
Just a little discombobulated on the restart up Route 77
With the two main climbs behind us, we lazily drift down Foxville Deerfield Road
And then blast down the fun descent toward Route 550
Back down closer to sea level, we roll through Thurmont after a Sheetz stop
Terry Eskuchen is all smiles after her first ascent of Catoctin Hollow Road.
Catherine Badger is already looking ahead to Hamburg, Harp Hill and Coxey Brown.
