Impromptu Ride from Glade to Thurmont
A robust gang of 11 benefited from the Federal holiday and some
incredible November weather on a ride from Walkersville
up to Thurmont. With Frederick County Schools in session today we started
at the Heritage Farm Park just across the street from Glade Elementary School.
Mike 'Round-About' LaPadula lead us on as direct a route as he possibly could
up to Thurmont, but his rambling nature got the best of him on the way back as
we did some interesting double-backs that stretched the ride to nearly 50 miles.
No one was in a hurry to get back as the 75 degree temps were too good to pass up.
Heading out from Heritage Farm Park in Walkersville
Spinning and chatting on Links Road

We pass what is believed to be the oldest tree in Frederick
County and one of Maryland's Bicentennial Trees near the
intersection of Route 550 and Dublin Road which suffered
damage on October 26, 2006.

Today's peloton is quite leisurely.

Riding up to the Roddy Road covered bridge . . .

. . . and out the other side.

Stopping at Hoffman's Market in Thurmont for a snack
