Biglerville Century
Normally, Christa Boras century rides are to be feared by mere mortals as it's been reported she
had billy goat chromosomes grafted into her DNA to facilitate steep mountain ascents.
Luckily she was out of town the first weekend in July so Rudy Hewitt served up a nice
route from Monocacy Middle School up to Biglerville for lunch at Mama's Pizza.
A good crowd showed up both for the full 100 miles and the shorter options
Our ride leader Rudy carries everything you might need for a roadside repair . . .
We were joined by a contingent from the Artemis racing team. They said it
was a 'recovery ride'. Yea - right . . .
Rolling up Legore Bridge Road
John Johnson has a unique way of signaling right turns
An early first rest stop in Detour
Our paceline heads north into Pennsylvania
Ho hum - nice scenery
The middle of the ride went by fast as we're already rolling back into Emmitsburg
A final stop at the Exxon on Route 140
OK, so you don't normally see fighter jets roaring around Emmitsburg . . .
. . . except when a pilot strays into restricted Camp David airspace
An on-call chopper from FEMA's facility gets in on the action too
John Johnson, Laura Chaffiotte and Ride Leader Rudy get a motorcycle escort
down Opposumtown to end the ride
